Sun Country, from El Paso, Texas, advanced to the National Youth Division’s gold bracket final four.
Moku O Keawe slipped to 4-2 in the tournament and will play in the silver bracket today.
The Big Island team started 4-0 in the tourney.
Earlier in the day, North Texas defeated Moku O Keawe 19-25, 25-19, 19-25, 25-16, 16-14.
Moku O Keawe, a team of of Big Island prep players, is coached by Tino Reyes and Chris Leonard.
The Big Islanders play Lakeshore, Mich., at 5 a.m. Hawaii time today in their first silver bracket match.
Basketball
Hoop Dreams, a Big Island all-star boys basketball, fell to Lokahi 52-49 in the championship game of the Las Vegas Grand Finals on Thursday.
Lokahi is a squad of Oahu Interscholastic Association all-stars.
Hoop Dreams opened the tournament with a 55-43 win over the Provo (Utah) Skyhawks, beat the Las Vegas Rattlers II 71-33 and then the Las Vegas Rattlers I 50-22 in the semifinals, setting up an all-Hawaii final.
The previous week, Hoop Dreams captured the championship of the 2012 AAU West Coast National Championship at the Las Vegas Convention Center, beating Reno Jam On It 81-73 in the title game.
Hoop Dreams will next play in the Las Vegas Classic, a 20-team tournament involving prep players and recently graduated players, to close its basketball journey.
